Street & E-Teamers: Here are some tips on how to digitally assault everyone:

 

BANNERS:

Send banners to your friends, add them to your MYSPACE PAGE or any other similar place like Facebook, Vampirefreaks, Blogger, Websites, etc. Do banner & link trades with online fanzines, stores, other bands websites, and similar. Go to the PROMOTE page to find a bunch of banners you can spread around.

 

FLYERS:

Go to the Banners & Flyers page to download Mortiis PRINTABLE flyers, and send them to your friends, pass them out at local shows, local clubs, local alternative stores (clothing stores, record stores, etc), anywhere you can leave them that won´t get you into trouble, such as littering!

Currently we do not have any printable flyers up, but we will have that soon. Keep checking the PROMOTE page for printable flyers.

 

WIDGETS/DIGI-FLYERS:

Check out the PROMOTE page for cool widgets. These work pretty much like banners: You can install/paste them into your profiles and websites. Widgets are a GREAT way to promote the band, as they usually contain some cool info like Blogs, Music, Shows, Maps, Photos, you name it. We have a variety of Widgets and similar gadgets available for grabs on the PROMOTE page. All ready for you to invade and saturate the internet with. See underneath for a bit more info on the various widgets and their associated websites.

 

Spread the WORD:

Tell people at FORUMS about Mortiis news, start Mortiis discussions, post live dates, general news, etc. Use your Blogs, Profiles, Podcasts - and don't forget word of mouth! That is a powerful tool! Tell everyone about Mortiis. Tell everyone about how fuckin´ COOL and NON-CONFORMIST you are for being part of THE HATE GENERATION. Tell your friends and everyone who will listen what a bumfuck LOSER they are for not being A HATER !!

The Mortiis Rambler. Either directly by clicking the Blogger icon on the PRESENCE page, or by grabbing the Blogger Widget itself and pasting that into your profiles.

 

ICONS/AVATARS:

We have a couple of cool icons you can use for your Blogs, Forums, Messageboards – anywhere that will let you post anything. As usual, go to the PROMOTE page.

 

ADD US/TOP FRIENDS:

Put Mortiis up in your top friends on MYSPACE and any other profile you may find us at (see below for al list of where you can find us right now). This is a great to get your friends to see us and possibly check us out. Of course it always helps with some ”gentle persuasion” from your side. And don´t be afraid of a little verbal abuse – they´re your friends, they´ll understand. Go to the PRESENCE page to check out our profiles on the web.

 

VIDEOS/YOUTUBE:

Subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Copy our videos to your profiles and anywhere that a video will attach itself. Lots of new websites will let you put up videos (and music) these days. Get the code for our videos on Youtube and embedd them into whatever profiles you´re signed up to. Go to our PRESENCE page and check out the sites you can currently find us at. Create your own account there and add us on those sites as well. They´re all free and all about passing on the gospel for dirtbags like us!!

 

FLYERS/WIDGETS/BANNERS:

 

Everything you can put into your profiles and sites, is located on the PROMOTE page. Here´s a little info on the stuff we have there for you right now (this will likely be changing/growing, so bear with us here):

 

DEMAND IT :

This is an awesome widget that enables us to find out WHERE people want us to play. This could make the difference between us coming out your way for a show come touring time, or us simply rolling through your town and throwing empty beer bottles at your house. So spread this banner round, click it to demand a show and make a difference!

 

REVERBNATION WIDGET:

This place has a million SUPER COOL widgets that we´re just getting into. They also let each band build a street team there, and a mailing list, tons of links to a million places that sell our music online. There´s even a widget that has MAPS to shows. There are several widgets made by REVERBNATION up for grabs and they are rule!! But the mother of all widgets is the TUNES Widget, which has pretty much all of this and more in it. Grab whatever suits you and start throwing it around !!

 

BEBO TRADING CARD:

Promotes our Bebo profile, photos, and music. You can collect trading cards from many bands & artists when you join Bebo.

 

ILIKE:

Place this little widget around, it´s small so no one will mind if you force them to place it on their profiles too. ILIKE is very cool: It´s got our videos, music and photos up, as well as a Blog and more neat stuff. It also provides FACEBOOK with a music player and share the same Blog. It even lets you post videos to your Facebook Blog. It is also tied up to BEBO & Hi5 in a similar way.

 

LAST.FM:

We have several players filled up with various Mortiis music that you can copy to your profiles. This is a cool way to add more music to your MYSPACE and other sites that may restrict the amount of songs you can put up.

 

THE MORTIIS RAMBLER:

This is our Blogger widget. We will be posting all our news and anything worth mentioning here. You can copy this Widget anywhere you please. Even straight into your iGoogle. You could have The Mortiis Rambler right there on your startup page. I mean does it get better? US every time you log on to the internet.

 

YOUTUBE VIDEO PLAYER:

Yes, it just got better. Grab our Mortiis videos player and paste it into your every single profile.

 

GYDGET WIDGET:

Similar to the REVERBNATION widget, this one is great to promote the street team itself, THE HATE GENERATION of which you are a part, so in a sense you´re also promoting yourself in addition to events, music, etc.

 

 

Here are some other suggestions on how to be a kickass street teamer beyond the internet:

 

DISTRIBUTE FLYERS, ETC AT LOCAL GIGS:

 

It is generally a good idea to ask the club first for permission to pass materials out if you are planning on doing it inside. Alternatively, standing outside near the exit handing items out might present the best opportunity for getting to the most people as they leave the show.

 

TEAM UP WITH THE LOCAL PROMOTER:

 

This is possibly the best way to promote a local show, simply get in touch with the venue and/or promoter of the show, and tell them you wanna help promote. Ask them for posters, flyers and anything else they might have that promotes that show, and get a bunch of your friends to do the same, and start promoting the show.

 

PUT UP FLYERS & POSTERS :

 

Venues, Clubs, Record Stores, Strip Joints and local Porno Merchants, Pubs, Local colleges, schools, youth centres, Internet café's. Wherever you can find places that might catch other music lover's attention. Go crazy with them! Put them on post office bulletin boards, in bookstore windows, all over town. Visit the little stores as well as the big chains. Take photos of your display! Bring your own stapler, tape and blu-tac. Most stores will want you to put up the flyers yourself.

NOTE: Many venues will issue FINES for stickering, so be very careful if you´re planning on putting up stickers to promote the band.

 

MAKE YOUR OWN FLYERS & PROMO MATERIAL:

 

All we ask is that you put the proper info on there depending on what about the band you want to promote. Well, actually we also ask that you: Do your best to use the latest Mortiis band photo and logo. Just check out mortiis.com and/or myspace.com/mortiis1 for the latest. You have no idea how often (and how frustrating it is) we see flyers and posters using logos and photos we abandoned years ago. So for the record: We totally support and endorse any UP TO DATE promo material you create. But we CURSE & DISOWN anything you make that has severely outdated logos and photos. Especially photos of past line-ups. That will earn you a ticket to paintown!! Oh, and more demands you better obey: please add our website to your promo: www.mortiis.com

CONTACT MAGAZINES & RADIOS:

 

And ask for Mortiis coverage or airplay. Refer them to www.mortiis.com for instant conversion to this the holiest of cults. If the radio says they don´t have our music, tell them to email us at info@mortiis.com and we´ll work something out. If they´re being bitches about it, bitchslap them and try again, with a couple of your friends. Of course when we say bitchslap, we mean that in the most metaphorical way possible as we don´t really have any time to spend dealing with lawsuits. Same goes for magazines, (print mags or online) just keep coming back to them, and make your friends do the same.

 

HASSLE YOUR LOCAL DJ:

 

Request Mortiis from your local DJ, and seeing as they love free music, tell them to email us at info@mortiis.com if they don´t have any Mortiis records in their massive collection of mostly freebies. Seriously, Djs are an integral part of bringing Mortiis closer to the club culture, they are the glorious kings and queens (and ladies) of the holy ground that is the dance floor. Not that we are big dance people, but it´s a great place to get your music heard by a pretty cool crowd of people. Besides, we know a lot of our music is pretty club friendly anyway so put on that make up and start working, bitch!!

 

MERCHANDISE AND SPECIAL STUFF:

 

In time we aim to send out cool promo stuff to our bestest street teamers, the ones who really love to hate, so to speak. So please don´t hassle us about this, when the opportunity arises for us to send out cool promo material (stickers, posters, condoms, pocket vaginas and other music related swag) rest assured you will be notified.

 

Rules and Regulations:

 

Are there any rules about where and how I can give away my materials?

 

All merchandise is to be given out freely. It may not be sold. We understand that a lot of our fans are collectors and may want to keep some items from the street team packs for their own collection. We are fine with you keeping one of each item sent in the packs, but ask that you do not sell them to anyone.

 

Do I have to be above a certain age to join?

 

Yes. You must be older then 16 to join our street & e-team team. We apologise in advance if you are below that age and would like to help. If you are 16 or under, Contact Us and maybe we can come up with something else you may be able to help us with!

 

How do I get more materials to hand out?

 

We will let you know via email when more materials become available. If you run out of show flyers, more can be downloaded from the download section, which will be online soon.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

 

We reserve the right to remove and/or ban any member who is unruly or disruptive from team lists, the online forum and any other activities. Such action will not be taken unless it is felt that said membership is detrimental to the team or Mortiis themselves. Your actions as a member of the Street & E-Team are a direct reflection of the band. It is our responsibility to keep activities running in a positive and professional manner. We will not revoke membership because you do not do things such as hand out flyers, but for actions that cause any of us problems.

 

Please remember, some stores or venues may have rules against handing out materials on their property. There may also be some areas that fans live in where it is against the law to affix stickers/posters to public property such as telephone poles. You should always check first to make sure you are allowed to put anything in these areas.

 

For those of you who are carrying out E-Team responsibilities. Please remember, that there is a difference between promotion and relentless ‘spamming'! If you're unsure of the difference, please contact us to check first.
